Governor Recruitment

Bernards Heath Infant and Nursery School are looking to appoint new members to our highly effective Governing Body.

Our Governing Body has three core functions for the school:

  • setting the strategic direction;
  • holding the headteacher to account for improving the school,and
  • ensuring financial health, probity and value for money.

We are particularly looking for people with either a Finance or Education background to help support and challenge the school in these area. This is in addition to more general responsibilities.

This is an opportunity for you if you:

  • Are interested in being part of a team who put children at the centre of everything they do
  • Communicate clearly and with impact
  • Can commit to attendance at two meetings per half term, 7.30pm-9.30pm on a Monday (these may be online or face to face) plus additional meetings and school visits
  • Can bring skills and expertise in strategic thinking, analysis and good judgement.

Who we are

At Bernards Heath Infant and Nursery School we share our days with children aged between 3 and 7, who are just starting to find their place in the world. Our school is a happy, safe learning environment that actively promotes curiosity, challenge and creativity. Our children develop enquiring minds and the skills needed for lifelong learning through an active and engaging curriculum.

What can you expect from us?

We pride ourselves on having an ethos where high expectations of ourselves and our children are intertwined with a supportive and celebratory approach. We will support all new governors and help guide you through your first weeks at Bernards Heath. We always say that there is no such thing as a silly question and will ensure that all your questions are answered. Training in safeguarding children and how to be most impactful in your role will be provided. Governors work collaboratively with staff in school and are a friendly team with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Bernards Heath Infant and Nursery School are committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We also seek two professional references to ensure anyone appointed to role is suitable to work with children.
