If you are coming to watch a Christmas performance in the coming days you will not fail to notice the dazzling Christmas Tree in the hall. This year we invited children to make a decoration for the tree and have been very impressed with their creativity! Some Year 2 children told me a bit more about their decorations:
Caleb: It was a snowman and it had ice skates on and it was squashy and fuzzy.
Freya: I made a Christmas elf out of green paper and I decorated it and I cut lots of shapes out, especially big ones.
Eleanor: I made a Scandinavian and Danish star out of red paper, it had flowers on it and it was a small one. I shared these with people at Global Families.
Our Christmas tree is not only exceptionally well decorated but is also bulging with presents thanks to the huge generosity of the parents and carers at Bernards Heath. For the last few years we have collected gifts to donate to families who may struggle to find the extra money for presents at Christmas. By asking for donations from our school community we have been able to make a our most significant contribution to the Vineyard Church yet. These presents will be given out in conjunction with their Feed food bank project supporting anyone who needs it. It is always good to remember that many families find the pressures at Christmas overwhelming and that so many people are just one or two months wages away from life changing financial circumstances. I would like to thank everyone who has donated a gift and also remind you that you can visit the Vineyard Church website to find out how to access support for yourself or make a donation.
