Despite the weather Year 2 pulled up their hoods, put on their wellies and went on their way to the local allotments. Year 2 were greeted by Mr Tarrant who welcomed the children and spoke to them about the history of the allotments and what might be growing at this time of year. Year 2 then heard from two other allotment owners and learnt about poly tunnels, growing and planting throughout the seasons and importance of manure. Well done to the children for their fantastic listening, interesting questions and sensible behavior. We are looking forward to revisiting the allotments next spring and summer to see how they have changed.
Many thanks to our parent helpers, we appreciate your support with this visit. The children returned to school and were inspired to plant bulbs and seeds in our planters on the playground. Watch this space!
